Attack on myths: When myths and facts collide

Musaigen no Phantom World. I don't know how the anime industry works, whether the studio actively looking for the rights to do the anime from a source material or the rights holder opening the animation rights up for bidding among anime studios. In any case I don't know how KyoAni decide what anime they're going to do next. However I do see some patterns among all the previous anime KyoAni did. This one is no exception.

This is not Nubutani from Chuunibyou but I understand if you mistook her as Nibutani because both shows are from KyoAni.

Musaigen no Phantom World is an anime about a bunch of phantom-hunting teenagers (again, Japan and their "make the teenagers our heroes", though that's not so much different from American soaps). The so-called 'phantoms' are unknown entities who came into existence after a worldwide outbreak which resulted in alteration of human brain and their future offspring. This alteration enabled human to perceive what used to be 'illusion' as something real. In other words those phantoms have always been around but prior to the outbreak most human could not perceive them.

KyoAni's autocensor skirt at work. It's very efficient that no matter which angle you're looking from you'll never see PANSERVICE anyway.

And here comes the important part. All phantoms aren't created equal. Some are good, some are bad. The good ones are fine (though some are quite annoying) but the bad ones need to be driven away. According to the show the phantoms aren't really killed as they may manifest again in the future but someone really needs to take on the bad ones. Now remember when I said about human brains were altered following an outbreak earlier. Not only human now capable of seeing the phantoms, some are also blessed with special powers to deal with the bad phantoms.

KyoAni is contradicting themselves again. They don't want to show any PAN but they're still trying so hard to show you fanservice anyway.

I'm not sure if everybody have the special power as it wasn't explained clearly in the anime so far but some powers were so tricky to use and some appears to be totally pointless, as if they're just for show. Now imagine all those things done in KyoAni style and you'll get what I mean. For me it's not that great (if I were to compare with KyoAni's older but recent works like Chuunibyou and Amaburi) and I think it's OK if i were to miss an episode or two but seeing that how many screenshot-worthy in this show I guess I'll stick with it a little longer.
